Profilers, Gaze Into The Abyss

Their work begins after the blood has been wiped away: Profilers, forensic psychologists and psychiatrists deal with murder, rape and manslaughter on a full-time basis. They reconstruct crime histories and motives, create personality profiles and piece together bloody puzzles. They have spent most of their lives working with criminals. They know how little separates perpetrators from the rest of humanity. Unsolved cases can haunt them for a lifetime. "You rarely have joy and happiness in this work," says Helinä Häkkänen-Nyholm, quite possible that she would be a happier person if she were not a profiler, she adds. "Sometimes you feel small asking yourself why."
