Bürglkopf

On the Bürglkopf mountain in Tyrol, distant at an altitude of 1,300 meters, there is a so-called return counseling center where people whose asylum applications have been rejected or are still pending are housed. With the help of “return counseling,” but above all under the pressure of indefinite isolation, they are supposed to be persuaded to leave Austria. Hoping for a peaceful life, the residents of Bürglkopf respond to their circumstances with great resilience. The idyllic Alpine landscape is the setting for a bizarre encounter between refugees, Austrian villagers, and tourists, who share the distant location but hardly ever meet.
