Coming Attractions. Even the title refers to both advertising films and the very early cinema, the "cinema of attractions": The very first eye contact shot lets the two genres meet in the montage - together with the avant-garde film itself, they form the basic triangle for the eleven varied chapters in which Peter Tscherkassky plays through the interrelationships between these three moving image worlds. His film is a look in the rearview mirror of cinema history, additionally enriched - in lovingly designed chapter headings - with punning references to painting, music and film theory.
