An observation of the first year of peace after the civil war in Bosnia, following people both in the Bosnian-Croatian Federation and in the Serbian Republic. Portraits of people against the background of a war that is not really through yet; an examination of possible – and, in many cases, no longer possible – co-existence; of the big and small changes which happened that year. Geyrhalter does not attempt to give political explanations for the cause and course of the war, but rather to document a current state of affairs. Long, uncommented interview segments and sequence shots give viewers time to get closer to the people and form their own opinions.
