The silence of the donkeys

It begins with the murder of a swimmer. A lonely cat is left behind at the edge of the pool. When Jonas Horak, imprisoned for murder in an institution for mentally disturbed offenders, learns of the crime, he suspects something terrible. Sophie Landner, the policewoman who arrested him, makes a gruesome discovery on a remote farm. The body of an apparently murdered farmer's wife is missing her head. She finds it on the stove in a saucepan. And a rooster flutters over the farmyard. Horak is certain that the murders have something to do with the story of the Bremen Town Musicians. Landner must find the donkey to prevent the next murder. As absurd as it seems, she has to realize that the matter must be taken seriously. Deadly serious.
