Rudolf Gelbard, born in 1930, is one of those Austrian personalities who helped their country gain a conscience after 1945. This is not only due to the fact that he was one of the few children to survive the Theresienstadt concentration camp and was therefore able to bear first-hand witness to the atrocities of the Third Reich. He was and remains tireless in pointing out and combating brown ideas whenever, wherever and however they made themselves felt in Austria after 1945. In this way, he became a second very important contemporary witness for Austria's collective consciousness, as he was able to report "live" and authentically from the front line on all confrontations with the eternally yesterday and young revivalists.
