In the middle of Vienna stands an old apartment building. Time has not passed this house and its inhabitants without a trace. The clocks here beat in a strange way. There are small worlds that a visitor can discover here, floor by floor: Querulous, collectors, forgotten, people with obsessions, hidden and open passions. But then death arrives for the first time and sweeps through the stairwell. The owner of the house, himself a flatmate, dies. His nephew, an entrepreneur, inherits and acts immediately.
