What inner and outer adventures must a woman endure who survives alone in the mountains, cut off from the world? The multi-award-winning German actress Martina Gedeck shines in an exceptionally intense role amidst unyielding nature. THE WALL is based on the literary masterpiece of the same name by Marlen Haushofer, which has been translated into 19 languages and was long considered unfilmable.

An unnamed woman writes down her story in a hunting cabin so as not to lose herself in her loneliness: over two years ago, she travelled to the mountains of Austria with a couple she was friends with and their dog. A weekend trip. When the couple does not return from a visit to the village on the first evening, the woman sets out to search for them. In the middle of nature, she encounters an invisible wall, an inexplicable boundary behind which everything seems to be dead. The woman is on her own. Somehow she must survive and come to terms with her fears, which repeatedly threaten to overwhelm her. Cut off from the rest of the world, she is confronted with the inevitable fundamental questions of life...
