EIGENTLICH VERGANGEN is the filmmaker's personal examination of the ambivalent history of her own grandmother as a member of the German-speaking minority of the "Danube Swabians" during the Second World War. Intense everyday occurrences between the two women interweave with fragments of conversations and film footage of the old homeland to create a reflection on the deceptive interplay between remembering and telling.
