Where No One Knows Us
The Chechen refugee children Oskar (Leopold Pallua) and Lilli (Rosa Zant) have been living in Austria for six years, but they still do not have a permanent right to stay. When the family is to be deported, their mentally unstable mother attempts suicide. The attempted suicide causes a postponement of the deportation, but Oskar and Lilli are separated from their mother and placed with different foster parents for the time being. The siblings secretly keep in touch with each other and hope to meet their mother and each other again soon. With the irrepressible power of their love for each other, they try to overcome every bureaucratic hurdle with passion and imagination. A bittersweet odyssey about the many ways one can perceive the world around them in order to survive.
