In FLASCHENPOST Mathes provides her visual material - this time it consists of video tapes - with a multi-layered off-screen narrative, interlocking individual memories with collective experience. The events are set in the fall of 1987. Thousands of people are demonstrating in Vienna against social cuts, the results of the historical commission set up in the wake of the Waldheim affair are expected - and the narrator experiences the violent end of a relationship.
