Franz Fuchs - A Patriot

Ten years after the arrest of the letter bomber Franz Fuchs in October 1997, Elisabeth Scharang revisits the "Fuchs case" on the basis of the interrogation transcripts. The letter bomb series, which claimed its first victims in 1993, triggered a conflagration of uncertainty and fear. Socially committed people, politically liberal thinkers and members of minority groups were the targets of the first ten destructive letter bombs. When the first letter bombs were sent in 1993, the "issue of foreigners" was being politically exploited and Molotov cocktails were flying against asylum homes in the countries of the former GDR. Not surprisingly, critical observers of the case still believe in an ultra-right network and not the act of an individual.
