For Oswald

The film describes the life of 80-year-old Oswald Fuchs. He is an actor, director, minimum pension recipient—and Jewish. When a tactless interviewer draws his attention to his imminent death during an interview, the sprightly ex-boxer is initially taken aback. What if he really only had a few days left to live? How would he use them? What would he still have left to do? So, together with his alter ego and inner director, the “migratory bird” (played by Michael Thomas), he embarks on a final “tour” – as he calls it. With these two protagonists, we now travel through a Vienna that is also getting on in years. We visit porn clubs and funeral homes as well as old friends and colleagues. On the journey, we encounter numerous characters and outcasts—Viennese originals, in other words—who are as curious as they are realistically portrayed. Oswald Fuchs takes stock, takes up his last fight with his alter ego, and rewrites the final act of his life.
