Hana, dul, sed ...
“Hana, Dul, Sed” tells the story of four young women from Pyongyang, North Korea, who share a passion: soccer. Selected for the national women’s team, the sport long provided them with a comfortable income and promised them a hopeful future. Thanks to them, the North Korean team won numerous competitions and ranked among the top ten teams in the world. But their trips abroad regularly led to ideological conflicts; the women had to endure accusations and tirades against their regime. When the team failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Athens, the adventure came to an end: the four were dismissed, and each has since built a life for herself outside of sports. Now, the best friends, Mi-ae and Hyang-ok, don’t see each other very often. But when they do go out together, their old closeness returns immediately: They stroll through the city’s dark, grand boulevards, chatting about memories and everyday life without their beloved sport.
