Marc-Aurel-Strasse in Vienna: there's the last Jewish merchant in the former textile quarter, the Iranian hotelier, the Café Salzgries with its regulars. From summer 1999 to spring 2000, Ruth Beckermann made small trips to her own front door and explored her surroundings with her camera. The film is also a document of the political turnaround that occurred when the right-wing FPÖ became part of the government.
