"Buy land. There is none left to be made" - Mark Twain
LAND GRABBING portrays the investors and their victims. Some talk about healthy economies, securing food supplies and prosperity for all. The others tell of expulsion, enslavement and the loss of economic foundations. An area half the size of Europe has already been bought up, and the farmers and indigenous peoples have had to give way. Instead of growing food for the region, large-scale production is taking place for the markets of wealthy countries. LAND GRABBING tells what this has to do with us. It is EU programs that lead to mega plantations for biofuel production and sugar production. And it is development aid money from Austria, with which the super-rich secure their investments. LAND GRABBING stirs up, makes thoughtful and animates to the active action. The resistance against "land grabbing" becomes stronger and louder.
"A stirring documentary about the connection between Western lifestyles and the price people in other parts of the world have to pay for them. (NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC)
