Last Of The Wild

LAST OF THE WILD takes the audience on a poetic journey into the tension between nature and civilisation, to places where the wild still exists, is being tamed or is unfolding in new forms: German predator trainer Carmen Zander, WWF gamekeeper Pavel Fomenko and Mexican body artist María José Cristerna deal with the wild in very different ways in their lives. Set in Leipzig, the Russian taiga and Guadalajara in Mexico, this essayistic documentary uses impressive, poetic images to explore questions of alienation, control and freedom – and to ask when the wild, untamed side of ourselves can still emerge, even as we increasingly lose touch with nature.
