Jowan Safadi is an Israeli Palestinian living in Haifa and is a well-known musician in the Middle East and a true free spirit. With his band Fish Samak he delivers songs that deal with political and social-critical as well as emotional and philosophical topics. Jowan is not afraid to express his thoughts freely, and to address even taboo subjects. His lyrics - in-depth and provocative - have always provoked controversial reactions: On the one hand, he was accused of "incitement to terrorism" by the Israeli police; on the other hand, his last tour of Jordan ended in jail and accusations of blasphemy. Recently, however, his 15-year-old son Don moved in with him and now Jowan has to face a whole new challenge: On the one hand, it means continuing to fight for his ideals and his music, while at the same time taking on fatherly responsibilities and providing a suitable environment for his son. "Namrud" is a film about a courageous individualist who uses his music to shake up the hardened fronts in his region. A film about inner and outer boundaries and the question of whether an individual can initiate change in his society. Will Jowan succeed or has the time come to leave the country?
