PARADIES: Glaube (original title)
In the second part of Ulrich Seidl's PARADISE trilogy, "PARADISE: Faith," Ulrich Seidl examines what it means to take up the cross. For Anna Maria, a single woman in her 50s, paradise lies with Jesus. She consecrates all her actions and being to him. She spends her vacations going from house to house on mission with 40 cm tall statues of the traveling Mother of God. When one day her husband, an Egyptian and Muslim, comes home after years of absence, her life is thrown out of whack. There is singing, praying and fighting. "PARADISE: Faith" tells of the stations of the cross in a marriage and the longing for love.
"The hostility to the body prescribed by the Catholic Church often produces the opposite: a secret lust." ULRICH SEIDL
