PARADIES: Liebe (original title)
On the beaches of Kenya they are known as Sugarmamas: European women to whom young black beach boys offer amorous services in order to finance their livelihood. Teresa, a 50-year-old Viennese woman and mother of a pubescent daughter, travels to the vacation paradise as a sex tourist in order to find love. She moves from one beach boy to the next, from one disappointment to another. Love on the beach in Kenya is a business. PARADISE: Love tells powerful, moving and always comedic stories about sex tourism, about older women and young men, about the market value of sexuality, about the power of skin color, about Europe and Africa and about exploited people who have nothing left but to exploit other exploited people. The film is the first part of Ulrich Seidl's PARADISE trilogy, which tells the story of three vacationing women in a family.
"One draws from reality and at the same time reinvents it." ULRICH SEIDL
