Room without a view
Thousands of women from African and Asian countries are trafficked to Lebanon every year as domestic workers, where they are helplessly exposed to exploitation. The Lebanese kafala system, which exists parallel to the labor law, favors corruption, abuse and cover-ups. And the architecture also serves to conceal their situation: for example, windowless service rooms are already included in the planning of buildings.
