A nameless girl has been lying in a hospital in Vienna for days. She was apparently hit by a car at night. Angelika Schnell and Franitschek make their way to the scene of the accident in Burgenland, where they are given a moderately enthusiastic welcome. They have completely different problems there, because the mayor's son has just had a fatal accident. Two accidents in the same place, so close together? That seems strange to Angelica. She delves into the stories of the people in the village and gradually discovers a bubbling behind the façade. The key to the two accidents seems to lie in a secret that the people here have buried deep in their hearts.
