Filmmaker Christoph Schwarz is broke. So an offer from a television station to film a year-long ‘climate strike’ experiment comes just at the right time. Schwarz decides to intensify the experiment: a ‘money strike’ as a capitalism-critical introduction to climate activism and as a unique opportunity to secretly use the film budget to buy the long-awaited weekend house in the Waldviertel region. Schwarz tries out sustainable lifestyles, rescues food from the bin, grows potatoes at a roundabout and herbs in a convertible, organises bicycle demonstrations and blocks motorway construction sites. However, Schwarz cannot easily shake off the problem of having earned money himself with a film about a money strike. A self-deprecating meta-documentary about double standards in times of climate crisis, about the privileges of car traffic in the city and the possibilities of fighting against it -humorously told with Christoph Schwarz's typical playful approach to truth and lies.
