Kurt is a notorious gambler. At the beginning, he storms out of a pub, sells off his car, immediately returns to the gambling table, only to lose everything once again. His system threatens to fail permanently. One night he meets an occasional gambler in a café. The rhinestone-studded little dice she unscrews from her earring unexpectedly proves to be a reliable indicator of victory and monetary gain. And although the alliance immediately splits up again after the woman's ill-advised solo effort, the dice remains in Kurt's possession. From then on, the little accessory takes on the function of a decision-making aid for every concern. Antonin Svoboda's YOU BET YOUR LIFE develops into a forced actor's cinema, which is characterized by an improvisational gesture. ISABELLA REICHER
