A mysterious necktie killer, who has been up to his mischief for some time, also strikes one evening in a run-down Viennese suburban cinema. The cinema owner Hermine H. (Gertraud Jesserer) discovers the old man's body after the end of the show. Together with her friend Schorsch (Karlheinz Hackl), the head waiter of her regular pub, she wants to get rid of the corpse inconspicuously, as she suspects that the incident could harm her cinema and also her personally. After all, she knew the murdered man and owed him money. But when the two want to take action, the dead man has suddenly disappeared again. Then the couple Lotte (Brigitte Kren) and Wurli (Karl Fischer), permissive hairdresser and jealous cab driver, as well as the strange Gabriel (Lars Rudolph), all three also regulars at the Café Sperlhof, come onto the scene. More and more, each individual comes under suspicion and the dark sides of the individual characters come to light. Worse still, the regulars at Café Sperlhof suspect each other.

"A flight of fancy of dirty Austrorealism. More of it, please!" PROFILE
