How real is reality?
In the documentary "How real is reality?" science journalist and director Kurt Langbein embarks on a journey to explore the nature of reality. On this quest he meets, among others, the placebo researcher Fabrizio Benedetti, who conducts experiments with oxygen masks on the Matterhorn in order to learn more about the extent to which information can guide the body. Quantum physicist Lukas Mairhofer, on the other hand, shows that waves can be in two places at once and can be influenced miles apart. But if we measure them, the spook disappears. Couple therapist Hans and Ute Giffey, meanwhile, know after 30 years of marriage that "reality" in relationships is a relative term and that you should let your partner's reality exist alongside your own. And researcher Laurie McCubbin takes the film team to the sites of the famous resilience study in Hawaii and shows that people's inner attitudes can change matter for the better. Psychoneuroimmunologist Joachim Bauer concludes: "Today we are learning that this common reality that applied 30 years ago within the scientific community, where we believed certain things, that today we simply can no longer believe them. Because we have new findings that totally change our perception of reality, even in science."
