Shirley - Visions of Reality

Shirley is a woman in 1930s, 40s, 50s and early 60s America. A woman who wants to shape the course of history in her professional and socio-political involvement. A woman for whom the reality of the Depression years, the World War, the McCarthy era, racial conflicts and civil rights movements are not to be simply accepted, but made and changeable. In 13 paintings by Edward Hopper brought to life through the film, the story is told of a woman who, through her thoughts, feelings and reflexions, makes us look at an era in American history.
