Angelo
At the beginning of the 18th century: When a group of young enslaved men is taken from Africa to Europe, a ten-year-old boy is among them. Chosen by a countess as a study object, this boy is baptized with the name Angelo and receives an extensive linguistic-musical education. He is quickly passed around in the Europe of the beginning Enlightenment, from noble house to noble house, up to the imperial court in Vienna ... Markus Schleinzers second feature film after his highly acclaimed debut MICHAEL is based on historical events. In the figure of Angelo Soliman, longings and attributions become visible that originate in history but still determine Europe's dealings with people from other parts of the world today.
"When great beauty and great cleverness spark together for two hours, the result is the most exciting form of energy that exists in cinema. That's ANGELO: a full-length flash of light." ALEXANDER HORWATH
