The child of the Danube

On their hike through the Wachau, the three artist friends Georg, Heinrich and Oskar meet the rascally and capable Marika, who enchants all three of them equally. The heiress of an aging Danube ship named after her, she and her new friends plan to put on a revue that will outshine everything that has gone before and use the proceeds to refloat the old ship ... The very first Austrian color feature film shines with good-humored and playful audience favorites such as Marika Rökk, Fred Liewehr, Fritz Muliar and Anni Rosar in front of a fantastically colorful landscape. The film was restored by the Filmarchiv Austria in 2023 and is now available on DVD for the first time.
