Vera Gemma is the daughter of the famous Italo-Western actor Giuliano Gemma. Inspired by her life, Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel follow this woman, who plays herself here, between superficial stardom and deeper longings at every turn. When Vera takes the injured son of a working-class family to her heart after a car accident, a moral parable unfolds that is as fascinating as it is tragic, one that once again attempts to unite the rich with the poor, the lost with the found. That contradictions are not only admitted but embraced reveals the film's tender humanism. (PATRICK HOLZAPFEL)
"Vera Gemma becomes a star because she takes on a role that she understands in the play has always been hers."
