As veterans of the textile business, factory owners Seiffert and Rainer know how to pull the strings. To ensure that business continues to grow and prosper in the future, they plan to merge companies and families. But Rainer's son Paul is only interested in actresses, because, as is well known, they are not interested in permanent relationships. Seiffert's niece Katja, on the other hand, would not be averse to a relationship and resorts to a ruse: in order to fit into her chosen man's pattern, she resumes her singing studies, which she once abandoned, and promptly gets an engagement at the theater. In the meantime, the errand boy of a delicatessen store, who is supposed to be an acting talent, causes hilarity and confusion ...
BRETTER, DIE DIE WELT BEDEUTEN was made almost exclusively with the participation of Jewish artists who had to flee Germany in 1933 and briefly found shelter in Austria. A witty comedy from a time when darkest clouds were already gathering over Europe.
