Heinzi Bösel, a petty bourgeois with a Pepita hat, and Kurt Fellner, a yuppie nerd, travel through the Austrian province in a battered Ford Taunus as inspectors of the hospitality and hotel industry. The two men, who couldn't be more different, gradually grow closer despite their seemingly incompatible personalities. The father cheats, the mother has a crush on her best friend's husband and goes stealing, the son is a closet lunatic, and the grandfather is a nuisance but doesn't want to go to a home.
